It’s 5 Tips Friday, so I am sharing my favorite things with you on the mind, body, and spirit along with what I am reading and what is inspiring me right now!

Mind

Have you heard of EMDREMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  This distress can be the root cause to disease, depression, or anxiety.  EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. I like to say, it is the adult me, going back to the child me and telling her she is safe and ok and she can play now. Wether you have experienced BIG T trauma or little t trauma, you have trauma in your life that you need to process that IS holding you back from emotional wholistic greatness. Find your local therapist and heal those wounds. You are meant to live a whole and complete life.

EMDR

Body

Do you use your phone for your alarm clock? How about your Apple Watch? Is your router in your bedroom? If so, you could be exposing yourself to harmful electromagnetic radiation and these frequencies, or EMFs, can be very damaging and harmful to your health. Our cellphones, microwaves, Wi-Fi routers, computers, and other appliances send out a stream of invisible energy waves that some experts say could be causing a disruption in our nervous and endocrine systems. In other words, EMFs could be a cause to certain cancers and hormone imbalances. BUT, did you know plants in the home can help?! Here is an interesting article that supports all you plant ladies and men out there! Check out what plants help filter out these harmful frequencies HERE.

Spirit

Have you ever been told to get lost? Well, I did just that yesterday, by accident. I tried to retrace my steps on my own from the hike I took with my buddy I told you about last week. I foudn myself lost on a trail and scared like a little girl. I may have even shed a tear because I was scared and didn’t see a soul for about 45 long minutes. After my cry, I shook it off and began to be thankful. I looked around and had an immense about of gratitude for the beauty I was in, the time I had to get lost, and the crisp morning air in my lungs. It was a gift. Maybe you need to get lost, too, to be reminded of the little things that make up your big heart. Hey sis, “Get lost.”

What I am Listening To

What I am Listening To: You know that life changing walk I went on last week? Well, this is the book she was telling me about and I immediately got it on Scrbd and was able to finish it in a week! I even grabbed it from the library for all the PDFs. Hey you, yes you  It is NEVER too late to start investing in your future. What I loved about this book was that it was a way to empower me to open up my mind and account and learn the tricks of Warren Buffet. It is SO worth the read, or the listen to! Danielle Town takes you through her being completely repulsed by investing in stock to wishing she had learned to invest in this way years ago!

What Inspired Me This Week

I was particularly hungry the other day and I wanted Creole food. I grew up in New Orleans and lived on red beans and rice, gumbo, and crawfish boils. The only thing is,  most of my mom’s Creole cooking requires flour and rice. Two items my gut revolts against!  So I quit making it all together. Until this week. I threw together my mom’s best recipe of red beans and rice and tweaked it a bit. I took a chance on eating the beans and have done well eating them so far and I replaced the rice with cauliflower. I watched my family serve themselves a little lagniappe ([Lahn-yop]: something extra) all week. Here is the recipe:
