It’s 5 Tips Friday, so I am sharing my favorite things with you on the mind, body, and spirit along with what I am reading and what is inspiring me right now!

Mind

Anxiety. It has been something I have dealt with since a child. You, too? I had my share of it yesterday when we took our sweet Crosby in for his annual heart check. Praise he is all good, still! I wouldn’t have made it if I had not implemented the 5 steps in this PDF I made you. I am a prayin’ girl and coupled with this practice on almost the daily, I have seen an enormous difference in my identification and recovery time.

Body

Toxic free living. We know that chemicals can be harmful to our bodies, especially our endocrine systems, so we choose organic non-toxic cleaners, right? Spirit

Did you know that the free YouVersion App will read you the bible? As you know, I listen to things on the regular. I get SO MUCH “reading” in this way, so why not have the WORD read over me. I am working through the bible in a year IN MY SHOWER. I choose to listen to it chronologically so it’s mommy’s story time. Seriously try it! Crosby has actually been known to sit outside my bathroom door and listen, too. So dang sweet.

What I Am Listening To

Yes, I am actually listening to a book that needs to be referenced quit a bit. I purchased this book first, read it, and I am now having her re-read it to me and pausing here and there to highlight and take copious notes.
I started to see my periods change (tmi?) and started to collect weight in areas that were never “troublesome” before. So, I dove into understanding my hormones and my mind has been blown! Hormone changes are not just for “old people” as I naively used to think. This book is not only worth the read, but the re-read and listen to and implementation! You bet you will be hearing a podcast on this soon!

This is the synopsis from the book: When it comes to weight loss, most people don’t think about hormones. But when you develop resistance to your seven major metabolic hormones—cortisol, thyroid, testosterone, growth hormone, leptin, insulin, and estrogen—your body adjusts by increasingly raising your hormone levels and ultimately slowing down your metabolism. What Inspired Me This Week

Ya’ll. I had the best weekend and it was completely unexpected. I knew we were going camping and I knew we would be celebrating Shad’s birthday with great friends, but what I did not know what that we ALL would be forced to drop our screens. The campgrounds where we headed had absolutley no wifi connection. Heck, the entire town we were in was so deep into the mountains that the one place that had wifi was at the local “coffee shop”. And I say that loosely.
Completely unplugging was exactly what we ALL needed. We talked alot more, leaned in when it was hard (versus checking out), and cherished each moment like it was a fleeting. I knew the weekend would end and competition for attention (for all of us) was going to re-enter. What was so inspiring about this? We discussed how we want to implement this concept more often. We are still deciding how to do this. Maybe all day Sunday? Maybe Friday nights? Not sure yet, but we, so far, are all on board for this idea, so I better get to it before my teens change their minds!
